Ali Sharifi-Zarchi was born in Yazd. He obtained his B. Sc. and M. Sc. in Computer Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and earned his PhD in Bioinformatics from University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran. He has done research in Royan Institute, Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Münster, Germany, and Colorado State University, Colorado, USA. He won gold medal in the international computer olympiad (ICO) in 2000, was a member of the Canada’s champion international robotics team in 2002 and a member of the international committee of ICO from 2012 to 2014. As of now, his main interest is designing algorithms for analyzing biological and medical data.
